Registration open for cluster of trust and identity events

A constellation of meetings related to internet trust, identity federation and personal data online will be held in Vienna in early December. Registration is open now for REFEDS, eduGAIN, and EWTI (European Workshop on Trust and Identity) - which are being coordinated by GÉANT - and for FIM4R. The events will be held back-to-back on 30 November to 3 December 2015.

30 November : FIM4R workshop

The 9th workshop of the FIM4R initiative is is organised by DAASI International for DARIAH-DE. It will include updates about EUDAT, ORCID, DARIAH, Moonshot and the AARC and THOR projects and will cover a range of topics including the Research Data Alliance (RDA) Federated Identity Management Interest Group (FIMig), the GÉANT Project activity about ‘VO platform as a Service’ and CERN security coordination. Registration is available directly through the workshop website.

1 December : eduGAIN ‘Town Hall’ & REFEDS meeting

The half-day eduGAIN ‘Town Hall’ meeting provides a public forum for users and contributors to the pool of federated resources and services that make up eduGAIN. Beyond the eduGAIN Steering Group, members of the wider community are able to interact and focus the attention of the eduGAIN interfederation service for the year ahead.

The 31st REFEDS meeting will also follow the ‘Town Hall’ approach, allowing all interested parties to contribute. The agenda will be published shortly.

Registration for both these meetings is being handled via the EWTI website.

2-3 December : European Workshop on Trust & Identity

EWTI is an international conference with the majority of attendees coming from various European countries. The programme uses the ‘un-conference’ format to create a sort of ‘market place’ for ideas and a base for open discussion. Participants decide the contents and address specific questions and challenges of technology, standards, trust frameworks, operations, usability, business aspects and public policy. Plenary sessions will also feature the following keynote speakers:

  • Leif Johansson, SWAMID: Federation protocols present and future

  • David Groep, EuGrid PMA
  • Robin Wilton, ISOC: Ethical Data-handling, Consent and T&C

  • Joni Brennan, Kantara: Identity in the internet of things

EWTI registration is open online until Friday 20 November 2015.
