TNC19 wins prestigious awards in Estonia
We are very thrilled to inform you that TNC19, GÉANT flagship conference that took place in Tallinn in June last year, recently received multiple awards by the Estonian Convention Bureau (ECB) at its yearly gala ceremony.
Every year the ECB, together with the City of Tallinn and Tallinn Convention Bureau, recognise the most outstanding international conferences that have taken place in Estonia in the previous year.
TNC19, Forging Digital Societies, excelled in the Conference of the Year and Smart Technical Solution categories. Example of the latter category, for example, were the innovative technical solutions adopted at the Tallinn Creative Hub, consisting in the creative use of screens on separate stages in two different halls during the opening plenary, plus the deployment of the largest digital display screen made up of 540 individual LED units.
In 2019 Estonia hosted a large number of conferences counting approximately 220,000 participants, in particular, TNC19 alone brought to Tallinn over 3,200 nights in hotels and generated approximately 1,000,000 € of VAT on business tourism turnover.
Kristina Lillemets Director of Infrastructure at EENet of HITSA and member of the GÉANT Board was awarded the title of the Conference Ambassador of Tallinn, for ‘her work in international networks and for bringing TNC19 to Tallinn’.
Kristina commented: “TNC is the product of collaboration and teamwork at the highest level. I am honoured to receive this award on behalf of the amazing team of colleagues who make TNC happen every year. The talented, dedicated and efficient TNC team from PSNC, NORDUnet and GÉANT, with the support of the professional conference organiser Publicon delivered a truly memorable conference. I would repeat the experience in a heartbeat, it was all-involving, immersive and challenging at times and I am also very happy to say that I have made great friends along the way.’
TNC20 will take place in Brighton on 8-12 June 2020, for more information visit tnc20.geant.org.
