Help shape a proposed GÉANT legal task force!

A variety of legal issues that relate to European regulations have an impact on national research and education network (NREN) organisations. Anyone with an interest in this area is invited to attend a Birds of a Feather (BoF) side meeting at this year's networking conference, TNC17, to explore the idea of setting up a GÉANT community working group.

The 'GÉANT Legal Task Force' BoF meeting will be held in the TNC17 conference venue on Tuesday 30 May at 18:00-19:00 CEST. It will start with a short proposal about the work and benefits of such a group, including some concrete examples of what could be shared or possible results. Participants will be invited to respond with the aim of defining a draft charter, a small starting group, a list of interested organisations / individuals, and the most urgent topics.

The proposed task force could provide a forum for gathering and exchanging knowledge and best practices (like model contractual clauses, privacy issues etc.) related to European regulation that has an impact on the GÉANT community.

The idea for a legal task force was proposed by the Dutch NREN, SURFnet – CTO Erik Huizer and legal counsel Evelijn Jeunink, who is also the corporate privacy officer at SURF. They will chair the BoF meeting.
