Life at GÉANT

"Learning something new every day"

What is your job at GÉANT?

I am member of a small, but busy team and my colleagues, all qualified and very experienced procurement professionals, are always available to provide regular support and mentoring. As soon as I joined the department I was involved in the approval admin process of major contracts about network provisioning: in a short period of time I was enabled to deal with National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) and major international telecom organisations from all over Europe.

A big part of what the department does is the preparation of documentation for international tenders and initially my role mainly consisted in providing support to the team during the tender process; very recently I have been given complete ownership of single tenders and look forward to being able to follow the tender process in its entirety.

What’s it like to work at GÉANT?

I enjoy the work atmosphere and the interaction with the team, I feel I am learning something new every day! In addition, I consider myself very fortunate as GÉANT will be able to support me through my studies to become MCIPS (Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply) the highest qualification in the procurement field. The fact that GÉANT is ready to invest in me and help me further develop my career is very motivating and inspiring and makes me feel very valued. In addition, I know that my colleagues will be able to support me throughout the process as I will be studying and working at the same time.

I enjoy working in GEANT’s international environment, I love the company culture and everybody’s mature approach to work. I feel confident about the future and the great opportunities that lie ahead of me.

After graduating in Business and International Management from Northumbria University in 2014, I spent two years at CFRS, a Cambridge-based organisation providing RF spectrum monitoring solutions, as a purchasing and accounts assistant. Towards the end of 2016, as I was keen to gain experience in public procurement, I jumped at the opportunity to join GÉANT in Cambridge as a procurement trainee.
