From November 15 to 20, the International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis returns to Austin for its 27th annual conference.

An interactive BoF will bring together networking experts, HPC user support teams, and scientists to look at tackling current network challenges and developing solutions.

The BoF is led by ESnet, GÉANT, and Internet2: who have all run similar events and workshops focusing on these issues; however, this BoF intends to open the discussion more broadly and engage with a larger group of stakeholders in HPC.

Why join us?

The BoF will meet on Wednesday 18 from 10am to 12.30pm, in the Austin Convention Center, Room 13, to discuss High Performance Computing and High Throughput Computing resource needs, challenges, and best practices.

Outcomes of the BoF

To understand key HPC science drivers and users so network organisations can better support the data needs and requirements.

The BoF collaborators will produce a report with key findings from the session and a survey of BoF attendees (which can be anonymous), to be shared with the research and education community. This will be used as well as a framework for continued community input and future discussion.

What you’ll get out of it

Attendees will receive the resulting report and their feedback will be used to inform future directions in scientific engagement and services planning by the BoF organiser networks.

As “Best Practices” are developed, attendees will be given an opportunity to provide input and tangible examples; the long-term goal is to produce a set of solutions for Advanced Networking Access and Leverage for scientific communities.

Attendees will have the option to join discussion mailing lists with other attendees to expand on and continue the collaborative discussions.
